Redlegs trio, Matt Panos, Mitch Grigg and Sam Baulderstone have all been rewarded after outstanding seasons with selection in the 2017 SANFL Team of the Year.
Norwood finished with the second highest amount of representatives behind reigning Premier Sturt and minor Premier Woodville West Torrens sharing five each.
Mitch Grigg enjoyed a fine season since returning to the Parade in 2017. The inside midfielder averaged 25 possessions in the 17 home and away matches he played amongst kicking 18 goals. Grigg’s ability to use the football well and impact contests saw him become the 11th Redleg to win the Magarey Medal.
Fellow on-baller and Jack Oatey medallist in 2014, Matt Panos also claimed a spot in the coveted 2017 Team of the Year. Panos’ had an interrupted start to his 2017 campaign with the star midfielder only managing to play 13 games. However, his class and poise showed in those matches played finishing equal fourth in the Magarey Medal. Panos, averaged 26 disposals and kicked 17 goals, including three games in a row of 30 plus disposals.
Ruckman, Sam Baulderstone also earned his place in the 2017 SANFL Team of the Year after a dominant 2017 campaign. Baulderstone, led the SANFL for hit-outs averaging 38.6 over the 18 home and away games. The 27 year old, also played a vital role in not only the ruck but his ability to get around the ground was major factor in his Team of the Year selection. Baulderstone averaged 14 disposals per game and kicked 9 goals in 2017.
