Redlegs quartet, Matt Panos, Mitch Grigg, Lewis Johnston and Coach Jarrod Cotton have all been rewarded after outstanding seasons with selection in the 2018 SANFL Team of the Year.
Mitch Grigg claimed his second Magarey Medal in 2018 after another year of dominant performances in the Red and Blue. Grigg finished the home and away season averaging 28.4 disposals and kicked 29 goals. Grigg’s ability to win the ball at the contest and make good decisions sees him rewarded with back to back Team of the Year selections.
Fellow on-baller and Jack Oatey medallist in 2014, Matt Panos also claimed a spot in the coveted 2018 Team of the Year. Panos’ has enjoyed one of his best seasons at the Parade with his ability to break games open with his ball wining capabilities and strong eye for goal. Panos’ class and poise showed throughout 2018 finishing equal fifth in the Magarey Medal. Panos, averaged 28 disposals and kicked 27 goals in 2018.
Wingman, Lewis Johnston has taken his game to a new level in 2018. After playing as predominant forward in the past, a move up the field has paid dividends with the 27 year ranked second in the SANFL for marks. Johnston has turned into the SANFL’s Premier linkman with his ability to connect from defence to attack. Johnston finished the home and away season averaging 27.2 disposals and kicked 17 goals.
Senior Coach Jarrod Cotton has also been rewarded as the Coach of the Year. After starting the year win one win and three loses, Cotton’s Redlegs went on a 13 game win streak as they head into the 2018 Grand Final.
