Norwood’s Reserves have moved to top on the Reserves ladder thanks to an nail-biting win against North Adelaide on Friday night.
The Redlegs found themselves 19 points down at midway through the third term, but managed outscore the Roosters kicking four last quarter goals claw their way back to a 14.11 (95) to 13.8 (86) victory.
Currently sitting first on the ladder, the Redlegs will need to beat the Panthers next Sunday to all but shore up top spot.
It took just two minutes for experienced campaigner Callum Bartlett to get Norwood off to the perfect start before Mitch Carter kicked his first of the evening setting the tone early for the Redlegs.
Despite a close game for the spectators watching it was worrying signs midway through the third term as North Adelaide booted four goals in a row to gain ascendancy on the contest. Norwood, however replied instantly towards the back end of the third term thanks to timely goals from Cameron Ball, James Siviour and Mitch Carter.
The last quarter saw both sides on the attack as North kicked the first two opening up a crucial 10-point lead.
The win came thanks to the tireless work of the Redlegs midfield to turn the advantage at the stoppages. The Roosters controlled the third term, but it was all Norwood from then on.
Darcy Pisani and Cole Gerloff combined for 52 possessions, while the work of Chris Olsson (22 touches, ten marks and a goal) and Anthony Giannini (21, five marks and six inside 50’s) helped put the Redlegs in front on the scoreboard.
Meanwhile, Harry Viney continued his good from booting 3.2, while Mitch Carter added another three majors to his tally.
Lachlan Pascoe was handy in defence, stopping many Roosters inside 50’s while proving damaging on the scoreboard kicking the goal of the game midway through the second term.
