Tonight, against West Adelaide, Ben Jefferies will play his 100th game in the Redlegs guernsey. Speaking about the milestone, Ben “Joffa” Jefferies stated “when I was younger I always wanted to play league for Norwood so getting to the 100 feels great”.

Coming to the Parade after playing his junior football for Onkaparinga in the Adelaide hills, Joffa notched up a total of 67 Reserves matches with the Redlegs before securing his position in the League team on a consistent basis.

It was Jarrod Cotton who was then care-taker coach who gave Joffa the opportunity to play his first game of League football against Centrals in 2009. Speaking about tonight’s game, Cotton said it’s a special opportunity for him to be able to coach Joffa on his 100th game.

“He’s come a long way since his first game and it’s been great to be able to watch his development”

Speaking of his achievements during his time at Norwood, Joffa shared that he still feels lucky to have played in a grand final the same year that he broke into the league side on a consistent basis.

“I knew my spot wasn’t set in stone going in to the finals so to be part of the winning team on the day is something that I still hold very dear”

Reflecting on how far he has come since he debuted against Centrals in 2009, Joffa can’t believe he has been lucky enough to be part of the successful 2012, 2013 and 2014 grand finals.

“The first ever grand-final win was an amazing feeling, going on to then beat Port by only a couple of points in 2014 was surreal”

When asked how he felt going in to tonight game, Joffa was quick to insist that he will be approaching it like any other game

“I’ll be going in looking to play my role and get the job done”

Norwood FC takes on the West Adelaide Football tonight at City Mazda Oval at 7:10pm.
