Jarrod Cotton- Match Report Analysis:

Round 6 Norwood FC vs Glenelg FC, Coopers Stadium

On Friday night, we defeated the Bays by a comfortable 31-points in what was an exciting contest at the Parade.

In our Count Me In Round in support of former Norwood player Ben Wilson & Huntington’s Disease, we managed to kick  14 goals having 11 separate goal kickers.

Head coach, Jarrod Cotton said post-match how pleased he was with the even spread of scorers on Friday night.

“Obviously if someone kicks five goals that’s great, but in the end, we had eleven different goal kickers so that’s a real positive having an even spread,” said Cotton.

“When you get 21 team members playing their role, you’re going to be a hard team to beat.

The game was played at a high level, with both sides impacting the scoreboard at crucial moments. Much to Cotton’s delight, we won tackles, marks and inside 50’s.

“It was an interesting game, I thought we had opportunities to probably kick away at times and then just dropped in concentration especially towards the end of quarters,” said Cotton.

“Overall some of our inside work was quite good and I thought our tackling pressure was a lot better in comparison to recent weeks.

“In saying this we were able to kick 14 goals again so our ability to hit the scoreboard and put them under some pressure was fantastic, so overall I’m pretty happy.”

We also on Friday night welcomed into the line-up, ex Roo Brad McKenzie. McKenzie had a good night out racking up 23 disposals including 6 marks.

Cotton spoke highly of McKenzie, who slotted in nicely complementing the team in both defensively and in attack.

“He played really well, I thought he looked really comfortable, got his hands on the footy and used it quite well.”

“Like I said early last week, it was just good to see him out on the ground and playing for Norwood.

“He looked like he’d been part of the group for quite a long time so that was a real positive, and he’ll only get better.”
