The Norwood Football Club has recorded back to back away wins after a hard earned 15-point victory against North Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Matt Panos starred for the Redlegs with 30 disposals and a goal, while Dean Terlich and Harry Viney both kicked three majors each.

In what was a rather scrappy start, both sides came out with a point to prove as North kicked the first of the match through Tanner Smith.

Norwood took a while to adjust to the tempo of the match however Captain Jace Bode managed to kick the Redlegs first of the match from just outside 50.

As the quarter went on North continued to gain momentum kicking three goals in a row, handing the Roosters a 12-point lead at the first change.

The second quarter started as fierce as the first, as Norwood’s inside midfielders found it hard to move the ball from the contest.

Matt Panos gave the Redlegs the perfect start, crumbing the ball from a contest to kick the first of the quarter.

From then on Norwood started to create more opportunities with plenty of inside 50 entries. Dean Terlich kicked two goals within three minutes, while Harry Viney joined in on the act kicking a wonder goal from the boundary.

To North’s credit, their endeavour and drive continued to pressure Norwood, as both sides were tied at 40-points each at the main break.

In the third term, the Roosters started the better of the two sides, kicking two early goals inside the opening five minutes.

As North started to kick away, an inside 50 stoppage allowed dominant ruckman Sam Baulderstone to grab the ball and snap his first of the match to keep Norwood well within the contest.

The Redlegs started to lift and debutant Chris Olsson lifted the spirit of the playing group kicking his first ever League goal.

Olsson’s goal allowed the Redlegs to gain ascendancy on the match as Panos started to show his class around the contest setting up two goals in quick succession.

Norwood went into the last quarter up by seven points with the game in the balance at Prospect.

Reigning Best and Fairest Matt Fuller kicked a clutch goal midway through the last quarter, while Kristian Roocke, Dean Terlich and Peter Bampton rounded off the win in style.

The Redlegs overcame a strong finishing North to run out 15-point winners at Prospect Oval.

At the conclusion of the match, Norwood FC Head Coach Jarrod Cotton mentioned that he wasn’t overly pleased with his sides start to the match, however went on to credit his sides ability to kick 15 goals away at North.

“It was always hard to win a Prospect Oval against a team like North who play well there,” said Cotton.

“I was just a bit disappointed in our start, just lacked bit of energy and intensity around the football and willingness to defend.

“But after that I thought we got back on track and played some reasonable football at times and then had some inconsistent patches which let them score.

“But overall, to go there and kick 15 goals eleven was pleasing and I thought with the match on the line our stoppage and centre clearance work was fantastic.”
