Its official, Daniel Johnston will play with the Norwood Football Club in 2018.
The former Murray Bushranger, put pen to paper this week which will see him land at the Parade for 2018 SANFL Maccas League Season.
The 19-year-old said he was thrilled to commit to the Norwood Football Club and shore up his immediate playing future after crossing the border to South Australia.
“It’s very exciting to call Norwood my home in 2018,” said Johnston.
“I’m really looking forward to moving over and playing at a higher level than which I was in 2017.
“Obviously you need to challenge yourself to make it further so I’m hoping I can play well, do my part for the team and taste Premiership success in 2018.
Johnston will add another dimension to the Norwood forward line next year. In 2017, Johnston won the leading goal kicker award in the TAC Cup finishing with 55 goals in 13 games.
A strong marking key forward, Johnston’s solidly built frame will allow him to contest marks and ultimately hit the scoreboard the same way as in 2017.
“I’ll be playing hopefully up forward in probably a full forward role but I am happy to play anywhere Cotts’ (Jarrod Cotton) needs me to play,” Johnston explained.
“I think there are aspects in my game which need improvement, but the hard work starts now and I am just thrilled to be part of this fantastic club.
“I aspire to one day go one step further and become an AFL Footballer, so hopefully I can prove myself, do my bit for the team and earn plenty of success along the way.”
