The Lower Eyre Peninsula Youth Girls Football competition is set to kick off in February following the successful Crows Cup & Youth Girls Come & Try session held in Port Lincoln in September.
The Come & Try session had over 80 registrations from the Lower Eyre Peninsula region, with the aim to have as many girls as possible transition into the Youth Girls competition.
Games will be held at Centenary Oval, Port Lincoln on Friday evenings from 5-7pm over a six-week period. They will incorporate music and reduced numbers on the field to add to the exciting experience. Initial planning has concentrated on an U15 & U18 competition with teams from Port Lincoln as well as the Tumby Bay/Cummins region.
The competition will be managed by a subcommittee of the Port Lincoln Football League, which will look to provide a pathway for all girls interested in Australian Football. This will include an All Girls AFL Auskick program for 5 – 11 year-olds to be run from 4-5pm at Centenary Oval before each game of the Youth Girls Competition.
Registration through Sports TG and the Port Lincoln Football League will be available within the next week and will be free for all participants. Teams will then be formed based on registrations received for the competition.
