Match Preview: Norwood FC v North Adelaide
The Norwood Football Club kicks off its 2017 SANFL campaign against North Adelaide on Friday night at Coopers Stadium.
After a long gruelling pre-season, Norwood FC head-coach Jarrod Cotton admits his side is ready to showcase their hard work.
“I think the whole clubs excited about the opportunity to play the first game,” Cotton said.
“It’s been a really long pre-season, but the players have improved over that time and have shown some very good signs in the trial games as well.
“So, now it’s time to put it on show in the opening game in front of our home supporters.”
The Redlegs go into the match full of confidence, after a strong trial match campaign recording wins against Glenelg, Woodville West Torrens and Adelaide FC. However, Cotton admits that Round 1 is a different level and knows the intensity of the match will be high knowing that Norwood will need to bring their very best to defeat a tough North Adelaide outfit.
“The match itself is definitely going to go up a couple notches being a real game, and we are fully aware of that and the players are also,” said Cotton.
“In regards to the game style which we want to play, it’s going to be the same just the intensity will lift and we need to be prepared for that and understand that North Adelaide are going to come here to win.
“So, it should be a fantastic contest and hopefully we can start well with four points.”
