The Norwood Football Club has given its forward and backline stocks an important boost signing former Western Bulldog and Sydney Swan, Michael Talia.
The 24-year-old has made the move to the Parade for Norwood’s 2018 Season after spending two years at the Sydney Swans.
Talia will complement the Redlegs side in 2018, with his ability to play as either a key back or a key forward.
Speaking to Talia who has played 32 AFL games he mentioned he was looking forward to meeting his new teammates and getting stuck into preseason in preparation for 2018.
“First and foremost I am looking forward to getting over and meeting all the boys,” said Talia.
“I already know a few of them having played with Declan Hamilton and Matt Panos at the Western Bulldogs, I also know Alex Forster well through my good mate Tommy Sheridan.
“I know the SANFL is a quality competition and I know Norwood is a good side. I am really excited and looking forward to 2018 and what lies ahead, hopefully we can go on to win a Premiership.”
Taken by the Western Bulldogs with pick 39 in the 2011 National Draft, Talia spent two years at Whitten Oval and was traded in 2015 to the Sydney Swans.
Talia featured in 18 of Sydney’s 24 NEAFL matches in 2017 spending a lot of time marshalling the Swans defensive half. Talia went onto mention how he is looking to spending time under the guidance of Senior Coach, Jarrod Cotton and is happy to play wherever he is needed to help the side.
“What appealed to me was the way in which the football clubs officials met with me and welcomed me into the club,” said Talia.
“Norwood has fantastic facilities and has great people throughout.
“I’m super excited to be a Redleg in 2018 and hopefully we can perform well for our fans and win a Premiership.”
