Exciting Norwood goalsneak Peter Bampton says he will relish the opportunity of playing in an SANFL Grand Final after an enjoyable and emotional Semi Final last weekend.
The Redlegs advanced into their first Grand Final since 2014 last Sunday and after a waiting patiently for a number of years Bampton is finally looking forward to donning the Red and Blue on the big stage next Sunday.
“I’m itching to get out there next Sunday,” Bampton said.
“I’ve been playing at Norwood for quite a number of years and after missing out on Grand Finals in the past due to injury and not being selected I was very relieved when the siren went.
“After the game it was a bit emotional in the rooms to be honest.
“It was such a relief knowing all the hard work that everyone has put in over the year has given us a chance to win a premiership.
“For me personally it’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to play on the big stage next week in front of our passionate Norwood supporters.”
Bampton has enjoyed a rather consistent year in the Red and Blue and hasn’t missed a game kicking 13 goals for the year.
Bampton says he has taken a lot of confidence out of playing every game in 2018, however understands that there is one more hurdle to overcome.
“Playing every game this year has definitely given me confidence,” said Bampton.
“As a team we enjoy each other’s company and I think that translates onto the park when we play.
“Being so united and buying into the mantra set by the coaches gives everyone the confidence to play well and do their bit for the side.
“We obviously have one more game to go, so we will train well over the next two weeks, prepare well and head into the Grand Final full of steam in search of the 2018 flag.”
