Norwood’s Reserves recorded one of the wins of the season as they took down Woodville West Torrens by 15 points at Coopers Stadium.
The Redlegs set up an important win for their top two aspirations steaming home in the last quarter and eventually ran out 16.9 (105) to 14.6 (90) winners.
The win sees Norwood sitting in second position on the ladder, only one game behind league leaders Glenelg.
The Eagles shot out of the blocks, kicking five goals to three in the first quarter and set up a 15-point lead at the first change.
The second quarter looked to be an even encounter however, Luke Surman kicked into action booting four goals for the quarter helping Norwood gain an 11-point lead at the main break.
Premiership Player, Callum Bartlett and youngster Isaac Hewson controlled the midfield dominance for most of the game and in particular the third term.
The pair combined for 49 possessions, 12 marks and five rebound 50s and were key to getting the ball moving forward.
Meanwhile, ball magnet Darcy Pisani was also a highlight for Norwood recording 22 disposals, seven tackles and two goals.
Norwood’s last quarter quarter was marred by some routine skill errors, however battled right to the end to record another important win.
Surman was impressive again in his second game back in the Reserves.
The former Hawk recorded 11 disposals, seven marks and 6 goals putting him in contention for a League call-up.
While the League side have a bye this weekend, the Reserves face South Adelaide at Norwood under lights on Friday, August 3. First bounce is at 6:40pm.
