The Norwood Football Club will look to bounce back on Sunday afternoon, as they entertain South Adelaide in Round 2 of the SANFL Maccas League.
In what was a tough contest against the reigning Premiers Sturt on Easter Monday, the Redlegs will be out to record their first win of the year against a tough opponent in South who notched up their first win of the year last Friday against the Bays.
Speaking to the Senior Coach of the Norwood Football Club Jarrod Cotton, he said his team is looking forward to returning to Coopers this weekend after a short turnaround.
“Obviously playing on Easter Monday we only have a six day turnaround,” said Cotton.
“The week has been really focused on recovery and getting the players ready for this weekend.”
“We trained really well in the main session which was pleasing; we reviewed the game well so the boys are really looking forward to Sunday afternoon.”
After falling to Sturt in Round 1 Cotton admits he took plenty of positives from the match, in particular the Redlegs intent and effort to apply pressure on the opposition throughout the match.
“I think our intent and effort to play at a high standard and to put pressure on the opposition was fantastic,” Cotton said.
“What hurt us was our execution with ball in and hand and in front of goals.
“Our defending as well at times wasn’t up to the standard that we expect, so there’s definitely aspects we can get better at.
“But in regards to putting real pressure on the opposition, I thought our guys were fantastic.”
As for this Sunday’s opposition, the Panthers come to the Parade full of confidence after defeating the Bays on Good Friday.
Cotton expects an intense game of football, and is fully aware that the Redlegs will have to be at their best to defeat South on Sunday.
“Watching their game it was a pretty close game for the first half, however South played a really strong third quarter,” said Cotton.
“Overall it’s going to be a good challenge for us; they have some elite midfielders and a really good ruckman.
“So we’re going to have to be at our best to nullify a strong South Adelaide outfit.
