Round 3 v Glenelg FC

Our Round three match against Glenelg saw us return to our Home ground “Coopers Stadium”. The group were very much looking forward to responding from their previous week’s performance and were keen to put in place some learning’s from the previous week.

Glenelg have shown in each of their games so far that they certainly make sides earn their wins and as expected their intensity and pressure on us was very good, particularly early.

In comparison to last week we played with more composure and fluency with our ball movement. With improved ball movement we were often able to get the ball into better positions to score, resulting in us in having a good 19 scoring shots for the game and finishing with a good 35- point win.

Whilst are accuracy on goal needs a little work (project for this week’s trainings) finishing with 7 goals 12 behinds provides us confidence that when we get things right, we have strong scoring power.

Another positive from the game was for the second week in a row we were still able to put together a strong defensive game to limit the opposition to only 4 scoring shots.

AAJ Jericho and Alannah Rochow both came into the side for their first games for 2018. AAJ a member of our 2017 squad continues to improve.

AAJ is now one of our better kicks in our squad. Alannah who played Division 4 with Happy Valley FC in 2017, has shown enough in her time with us that she will be a long term player. Her dashing run to break the lines was a real positive for our team.

Due to the draw our Round five clash this week again sees us play against West Adelaide, this time at “Home”.

Having only played them a couple of weeks ago and not having our best game, the girls are itching to perform better this time around and reverse the result. With a triple header of games being played we look forward to seeing a good crowd come down to support us and the Women’s Game.
