Gun recruit for the Norwood Football Club Josh Glenn says he is ready to repay the faith after what has been described as a tough couple of months.
Undoubtedly talented, Glenn debuted for Central Districts at 19 years of age playing 37 games until he was drafted by the Gold Coast Suns.
Drafted with pick 7 in the 2015 rookie draft, Glenn went on to play five games for the Suns before returning to Centrals in 2017.
After the 2017 SANFL Season, Glenn decided to retire from SANFL Football and return to former club Willaston to play football with friends.
Due to indifferences, Glenn decided to pursue a second chance in playing SANFL League Football by getting in touch with recent Norwood recruit and former teammate Caleb Edmead.
Glenn approached the Club which was the beginning of formal meetings.
This process included meetings with Senior Coach Jarrod Cotton, Football Operations Manager Mark Ross, CEO James Fantasia as well as Senior members of Norwood’s Leadership Group.
As a collective, each member was of the view that Glenn was ready for this opportunity which included him gaining a mentor in former Basketball Superstar Phil Smyth, as well as regularly meeting with members of the clubs care and wellbeing committee.
No one can fault Glenn’s application since arriving at the club, resulting in his first game for Norwood this weekend.
Speaking to Glenn, he said he is extremely grateful for the opportunity given to him by the Norwood Football Club.
He also went onto mention how welcoming the club officials, players and staff were as soon as he entered the club for the first time.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity given to me by the Norwood Football Club,” Glenn said.
“Everybody from the board members, CEO, coaches, players and staff has welcomed me with open arms really making the transition period smooth.
“I hope I can put my best foot forward and do what’s right for the team which is performing well and gaining success along the way.
“It’s an honour to represent this club and tomorrow I hope I can repay the faith given to me and play my role for the team.”
Senior Coach of Norwood Jarrod Cotton couldn’t speak any higher of Glenn, mentioning how well he (Glenn) has adjusted since joining the Redlegs.
Cotton believes Glenn’s footballing ability and the way he has applied himself since joining the club will benefit everyone going forward.
“Josh has been fantastic since he has arrived at the club,” Cotton said.
“When Josh first arrived he was really excited about coming to Norwood wanting to just enjoy his football.
“Josh’s training standards and work rate in both his reserves games have been second to none and what he has shown so far he is going to be a major asset for the football club.
“From my point of view he’s definitely earned his spot in the team and we’re really excited for what he can bring this weekend and for the future.”
