The Norwood Football Club will look to bounce back this weekend, as they face Glenelg FC in Round 6 of the SANFL Women’s League.
In what was a hard fought contest last weekend, Norwood weren’t able to find ay scoring rhythm falling to the Panthers by 13-points at the Parade.
The Lady legs currently sit third on the Statewide Super Women’s League ladder on equal points with West Adelaide who sit in fourth spot.
A win is all but needed for Norwood this weekend against the Bays to apply pressure on the top two as well as help secure a finals berth.
The task at hand will be all much harder with hard-nosed midfielder Michele Reid out indefinitely, after sustaining a knee injury mid-way through the first term on Saturday afternoon.
Sally Riley who was voted Player of the Week is unavailable, while Adele Gibson and Jo Hill have both been omitted.
Kate Fenton has also been forced out of the side with an ankle injury.
In better news, twins Alexandra and Lindsay Bigg will both make their formal debuts for Norwood this Saturday after patiently waiting five weeks.
Speaking to Lindsay Bigg she spoke on behalf of herself and Sister Alex in mentioning how much it means to both of them in getting selected to play for Norwood this weekend.
“We are both very excited in being able to make our debuts this weekend,” said Lindsay.
“Alex and I have been held back for a little while, so it’s good to know that we have been selected by Steve and the coaching staff.
“I guess for us being held back has made us hungrier, so it’s important we go out there on Saturday and give it our best.”
Lindsay went onto to mention that although Norwood fell last week to the Panthers, the twins entering the team will give teammates a much needed confidence boost with the twins’ energy and enthusiasm being at an all-time high.
“Hopefully Alex and I can confuse the opposition a bit with where we play and rotate,” Lindsay said jokingly.
“We are playing similar roles so hopefully we can have a bit of fun as well as play our role for the team.
“Personally, I think everyone will get a bit of a kick out of it.
“It’s a chance to really amp it up and get some good vibes going, which hopefully leads to a positive result on Saturday.”
Amongst the inclusions of Lindsay and Alexandra Bigg; Matilda Van Reil, Matilda Zander and Georgia Taylor all return to make up the squad of 20.
