NFC Senior Women

Three More for Lady Legs

NORWOOD has completed the signings of former Greater Western Sydney duo Hannah Dunn and Najwa Allen, along with former Adelaide Crow Sophie Armistead.

The trio will join the Redlegs ahead of the 2019 SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League Season.

Dunn was a member of the GIANTS Women’s Academy and was part of the GIANTS’ inaugural squad in 2017.

In 2016, she became the first female to play 100 games for the Queanbeyan Tigers in Canberra.

Dunn is a four-time premiership captain for the Tigers and will add depth and poise to what is starting to become a powerhouse Redlegs midfield.

Allen joins the Norwood Football Club after spending three years playing for Eastlake Demons in Canberra. The 25 year-old also spent time on the GIANTS winter series list, however didn’t manage to play a senior game.

Allen was also named best on ground in this year’s 2018 Canberra Grand Final.

The Norwood Football Club has also signed midfielder Sophie Armistead for the 2019 SANFL Women’s Competition.

Armistead was originally drafted by Adelaide with the Club’s seventh selection and pick No.55 overall in the 2016 AFL Women’s Draft.

The 23-year-old made her AFLW debut in 2017 in Round Two against the Western Bulldogs but tore the meniscus in her left knee in the third quarter of the match and missed the remainder of the inaugural season.

Armistead will still remain part of the Adelaide Crows Women’s setup; however will play predominately for the Lady Legs in 2019.

Armistead is a quality decision maker and will complement the Redlegs midfield setup alongside guns Michele Reid and Monique Hollick.
