The Norwood Football Club would like to congratulate youngster Luke Valente on being selected as Captain of the South Australian State Team at the 2018 AFL National Championships.
Voted in as the Croweaters’ skipper by his team-mates and the SA coaching staff, Valente is a big bodied midfielder who measures in at 186cm and weighs 81kgs. Valente has been a consistent performer for Norwood’s Under 18 side and will look to put his best foot forward in terms of performing on the national stage.
A member of the AFL Academy, Valente will use leadership principles he’s put in place in his role as captain at Rostrevor College, where he is studying Year 12.
The McDonald’s SA Under-18 team – to be coached by new mentor Tony Bamford – begins its campaign with a match against Western Australia at Alberton Oval from 11am on Sunday.
This will be followed by a standalone clash with Victoria Country at Adelaide Oval on Sunday June 17 before the squad heads across the border for the final two matches against the Allies (Geelong) on Friday June 29 and Victoria Metro (Etihad Stadium) on Wednesday July 4.
