Gun recruit from the Western Bulldogs, Declan Hamilton says he and his teammates aim to come out victorious in the very first instalment of SANFL Fast Footy.
Hamilton arrived at the Parade in early October and is rather excited about his first ever competitive hit out for Norwood against Sturt on Friday night.
“I’m really excited to put the colours on for the first time,” said Hamilton.
“As a squad we’ve had a really solid three months of pre-season so far, we’re not going to be the finished product come Friday, but it’s a nice stepping stone to test ourselves against a couple of other sides to see how we are tracking come Round one.
“I’m really excited about getting out onto Coopers Stadium to familiarise myself with the venue leading into our opening match against Sturt on Easter Monday.”
Although the SANFL Fast Footy rules have been tweaked from normal football, Hamilton didn’t shy away from the fact that as a new recruit he would be out to prove his worth in helping Norwood secure their first piece of silverware for 2018.
“Obviously being new to the club you always want to put your best foot forward and that’s something that I think I have done throughout training so far,” Hamilton explained.
“This weekend is the first opportunity of the year you get to compete against other sides to see how you’re going physically and really make a good first impression.
“I know it’s a pre-season competition but I want to win.
“If you start creating a winning culture in any game you play it holds you in good stead come the season.
“As a club we are all excited to get out there and showcase our skills in Fast Footy.”
