First-year U18 Will Prescott played his best game in Norwood colours on Saturday afternoon, booting five goals in the Redlegs 45-point loss to Glenelg at Stratarama Stadium.
Prescott kicked five of Norwood’s eight goals in the 15.12-102 to 8.9-57 defeat.
The Prince Alfred College forward came into the Round 14 match with four goals to his name in 2024, before adding 5.2 to his tally from his 12 disposals and four marks. He played three U18 matches last season for six goals.
Eamon Cronin, Ryan Penna and Ethan Pugsley were the other goal kickers for the Redlegs.
Norwood started strongly, kicking the first three goals of the game through Cronin, Prescott and Penna to stretch out to a 17-point lead within the first eight minutes of the match.
Glenelg returned serve with the next four goals to take a surprising six-point lead at quarter time.
Prescott kicked back to back goals early in the second term, but from there it was all Glenelg, which slammed home the next six goals unanswered to get the margin out to an unassailable 40 points.
The second half was a closer affair, three goals to Glenelg’s five, but the damage was done in a six-goal second term.
The Camporeale twins, Ben and Lucas, who are touted as likely father-son prospects to Carlton in this year’s AFL Draft had a big day out, with Ben gathering 38 disposals, 10 clearances and five tackles, while Lucas had 31 disposals, five clearances and seven tackles.
Norwood captain Luke Scott was the leading ball winner for the Redlegs with 22 disposals, six marks and six tackles, while Tom Hill had 21 disposals and Jim Kelly 20.
Norwood 3.3, 5.3, 6.9, 8.9 – 57
Glenelg 4.3, 10.7, 11.10, 15.12 – 102

Norwood’s U16s stuck with the third placed Glenelg for three quarters, before the Tigers ran away with a 25-point win at Stratarama Stadium on Saturday.
The Redlegs were off their first victory of the 2024 campaign last week against West Adelaide, and it looked like a back to back upset win was on the cards when the visitors led by 12 points late in the second term.
The lead came off the back of three straight Redlegs goals through Tarkyn Grigg, Callum Myles and Kai Ivins to put a scare through the Tigers camp.
Unfortunately for Norwood, Glenelg steadied with a goal through Luca Bordignon just before the half time siren to make it five points at the main break.
Bordignon’s goal kick started a string of three unanswered goals for the Tigers to help reclaim the lead, before a goal to Norwood captain Blake Jones leveled the scores at the 10-minute mark of the third term.
The Tigers again responded with four straight goals, to make it seven of the last eight to set up a match-high 26 point lead early in the final quarter.
The remainder of the game went goal for goal, with Aden Knowles and Dylan Bielak getting on the scoreboard for the Redlegs, but it was enough for the Tigers to clinch a 12.8-80 to 8.7-55 win over a much improved Norwood side.
James Annese had 25 disposals, six clearances and three tackles, while Charlie Best had 20 disposals.
This Saturday, the Redlegs have an away battle against a Central District team that destroyed Norwood’s U18 and U16 sides in May.

Glenelg 2.2, 4.5, 8.7, 12.8 – 80
