Norwood SANFLW Best and Fairest Jade Halfpenny has been signed by AFLW club Carlton ahead of the upcoming 2024 season.
The Blues signed Halfpenny after Erone Fitzpatrick was recently placed on the inactive list.
Experienced at the highest level, Halfpenny featured in Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW team. Playing six games across her time at the Power, Halfpenny made her debut back in 2022 against the Blues.
Earlier this month Halfpenny won Norwood’s SANFLW Best and Fairest Award, and was named in the SANFLW Team of the Year.
Known for her strong overhead marking ability and clean fundamentals via hand and foot, Halfpenny featured in every Norwood match she was available for, averaging 17 disposals, four tackles and three clearances in 2024.
Carlton’s Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said Halfpenny is a talented athlete with a strong work ethic.
“Jade has shown high-level football skills and determination throughout the SANFLW season, and we believe the attributes she brings will complement the team,” Naulty said.
“Already with experience at AFLW level, she brings a high football IQ and understanding of the professional standards, which is something we hold highly at Carlton.
“We are excited to welcome her down to IKON Park and can’t wait to see what she can produce this season in the Navy Blue.”
Halfpenny moved to Melbourne this week, with Carlton’s Round 1 game coming against Hawthorn on Sunday, September 1.
