The Norwood Football Club is excited to announce the signing of Charlie Molan.
Molan crosses to the Redlegs from Sturt where he played four League matches for the Double Blues over the past two seasons. He was the SANFL Reserves Magarey Medallist in 2023.
Norwood Football Club General Manager of Football Richard Kelly said the 21-year-old was a great fit for the Redlegs.
“We like Charlie as a player, we spoke to him a couple of years ago when he first came over from Victoria, but he eventually signed with Sturt,” he said.
“It’s great to now welcome him to the club.
“He’s a 187cm midfield-forward, he finds the footy and is a regular goal kicker. He fits our needs perfectly with the likes of Nelligan and Sam Morris departing the club over the off-season. We see him playing a similar role in our forward line and midfield rotation.”
The Greater Western Victoria Rebels product played 21 Reserves matches in 2024, and averaged 21 disposals, five tackles and five clearances per game. He also kicked 15 goals across the season.
He finished with the second-most disposals in the Reserves competition in 2024, but topped the leaderboard in handballs, clearances, ranking points and inside 50m entries.
Molan said he was excited to head to The Parade for the 2025 season.
“I am really excited to be on board, Norwood has had some good success over the past few years. Hopefully we can go one step further in 2025,” he said.
“I have enjoyed my time in the SANFL and with Sturt, the footy’s been great standard.
“I am hoping for League opportunities at Norwood, I know that I need to earn trust from the playing group and coaching staff, but I am ready to hit the ground running in pre-season.”
He said there were a couple of Norwood players he was extra keen to run out with on game day.
“It’s tough to go past Harry Boyd, it would be handy having him tapping it down to you, and I am excited to reunite with George McLeod who I played with at Sturt,” he said.
