NORWOOD midfield star Matthew Panos believes a full preseason has led to what has been a dominant start to 2019.
Panos starred in Norwood’s 14-point win over the reigning Premiers North at Prospect on Anzac Day.
The 26-year old finished with 27 disposals, 12 marks, seven clearances and three goals to be awarded the Bob Quinn Medal.
Speaking to Norwood media, Panos said his work on the training ground and a full pre-season has led to his fantastic start to the season.
“I think having a full preseason always helps earlier in the year,” Panos said.
“After a full pre-season I was confident going into Round One coming off a reasonably good 2018 season.
“For me it’s just to continue this form, keep working hard at training and doing what the team expects of me each week.”
After a fantastic start to 2019, the Redlegs currently sit on top of the SANFL Statewide League.
The Legs will face Adelaide next who have started 2019 well also with three wins, one loss and one draw.
Panos is fully aware of the talent Adelaide pose, however, believes a fast start and the team’s ability to execute in front of goal will go a long way in claiming the points.
“We will continue to do what we do each week when preparing for the opposition,” Panos said.
“After playing Port a couple of weeks ago, they had a lot of talent and we know the crows have some really quality players also.
“We need to focus on what we need to do and have to get off to a fast start which I think will be an important factor in winning this Friday night.
