Norwood’s Senior Women’s side have finally marked the end of their long and gruelling pre-season, running out for a trial game at Richmond Oval on Sunday.
The Redlegs took on Sturt on Sunday morning, claiming a 7.8-50 to 6.4-40 win.
It was a close tussle all game, as the Redlegs led 3.4-22 to 2.3-15 at the main break, and going on to win by 10 points.
Norwood selected a strong side for Sunday, with newly announced captain Jade Halfpenny taking to the field, along with off-season recruits Abby Klaebe, Amy Gaedtke and Ashley Baker.
Senior players Georgie Jaques, Emily Bartsch, Sarah Branford, Emma Clark and Lana Schwerdt also had a run in the first trial, as well as young guns, Lani Cocks, Kate Alexander, Charlee Brooksby and Elke Cameron.

Norwood has moved to second on the SANFL U18 Girls ladder following a 21-point win over Sturt at Richmond Oval on Sunday.
The Redlegs are behind only South Adelaide on percentage, setting up a big finish to the season over the next two rounds, with a win in one of the remaining rounds just about locking in a finals spot.
Norwood travel to Glenelg this Thursday evening to take on the Tigers in Round 6, before facing the top of the ladder Panthers in the final round.
Last Sunday, Norwood took on an in-form Double Blues side, who the week before defeated Central District by 45 points, meanwhile the Redlegs were aiming for their fourth win of the campaign.
It was a tight battle all the way up to three quarter time, with the lead changing four times in the first three quarters.
At the final break Norwood led by one point, 2.4-16 to 2.3-15 after the game had gone goal for goal all afternoon.
In the final term, the Redlegs were able to break the shackles, kicking the only three goals for the term, and keeping the Double Blues scoreless, to run out 5.6-36 to 2.3-15 winners.
Mia Wood was again fantastic for Norwood, with 28 disposals, 11 tackles and seven clearances.
Kaianne Colbung-Ware had 24 disposals, eight clearances and kicked a goal, while Ella Anderson (24 disposals), and captain Molly Sennar (18 disposals) were also busy.
In the end it was a comprehensive victory around the ground, as Norwood had +50 disposals, +9 clearances and +11 inside 50m entries.
