Norwood premiership defender Jack Heard says he never takes for granted the opportunity to pull on the red and blue guernsey.
Having done so for 99 occasions at Hostlplus SANFL League level, the 25-year-old is relishing the chance to play regularly alongside his younger brother Finn.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, the reliable backman said it will be a special moment for his family when he runs out with his sibling for his milestone match against Port Adelaide at The Parade on Friday night.
Starting his career at Woods Street in the U13 Development Squads, Heard has forged a deep love for the club whilst making his way up the ranks to make his League debut in the last minor round game of 2020.
The next season was his breakout campaign in which he appeared in 14 League contests, hailing the stern guidance from his previous coach Jade Rawlings in playing a major role in his sudden rise.
Featuring in 22 matches during their 2022 premiership campaign, Heard said the belief amongst the group in that finals campaign was enormous as they pipped North Adelaide by a point for the flag.
Making his name as a regular defender, the Walkerville junior has only managed one goal in his Hostplus SANFL League career as featured in the clip below.
But it’s fair to say he certainly made the most of it with a significant celebrations following his attempted pass to the top of the goal square which rolled through on a wet night at The Parade in 2024.
