Norwood squandered a 40-point lead in the U18 Boys on Saturday afternoon, having to settle for a draw with North Adelaide, after the Roosters tied up the game with a controversial goal on the final siren.
The Redlegs were in full control of the game at Norwood Oval on Anzac Day, leading by 40 points late in the second term, but could only manage two second half goals to seven as the Roosters surged back into the contest.
The home side led by 15 points at three quarter time, and looked like they had done enough to seal victory when Oliver Eastern nailed the first goal of the final term with 11 minutes remaining.
However, North regained the momentum with the next two goals, making it just six points with three minutes on the clock.
It was an arm wrestle, but eventually the ball came into North’s forward 50m, where an extremely soft free kick was blown from a marking contest. Archie Simpson received the free kick and booted the goal to draw level on the final siren.
Easton finished with three goals, and Kai Ivins two goals from 24 disposals in a best on ground effort. George Serocki had 27 disposals, Eddie Sorensen had 23 disposals and 10 marks, while first year defender Thomas Gribben took 11 marks across half back.
