Past Player of the Week – Stephen Connelly

Stephen “Mono” Connelly played his early football with the Gawler Central Football Club. Moving to Central District FC, he made his league debut for the Bulldogs in 1983. A highly skilled, smooth moving left footer, with seemingly endless stamina, he was well-suited to playing as an on-baller, changing on a half forward flank.

At the end of the 1986 season, the Brisbane Bears (VFL) chose Connelly as one of its pre-draft selections. However, after making 69 appearances for Centrals between 1983 and 1986, Connelly somewhat surprisingly moved across to Norwood.
