Norwood Captain Jacob Kennerley will play game 100 this weekend.
Norwood captain Jacob Kennerley will play his 100th SANFL match against Woodville-West Torrens at Coopers Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The 2022 Premiership player hails from Cummins on the club’s regional zone of the Eyre Peninsula, and has captained the club for the past four seasons.
After moving to Adelaide for school at Rostrevor College, Kennerley played junior football with Norwood, before being drafted to Geelong ahead of the 2019 season, where he spent two seasons on the AFL list.
Kennerley joined The Redlegs Review Podcast this week, and said that he was “looking forward to this weekend”. He said that playing 100 games for the Norwood Football Club had been a goal since returning to The Parade in 2021.
“When you first come into the club you see the names on the lockers and you wonder how you get your name up there – 100 games is what it requires, and that’s always been a goal of mine and most players,” he said.
“To be there at this milestone is pretty special, and to have your name up on the locker alongside some of the greats of the club is pretty cool.
“When I reflect on my 100 games here, there’s a lot of great memories, some challenging ones, but I think I’ve improved as a player and person over the past five years at the club. I’m looking for many more to come.”

Norwood coach Jade Sheedy said Kennerley was an outstanding leader.
“He is a great young man who is passionate about Norwood. He comes from our regional zone and it’s going to be a big week for our club to represent someone who not only plays the way we want to play but also leads that,” Sheedy said.
“He leads the standards and that’s why he is the captain. We took it to a vote this year and it was unanimous, so that reflects the way the coaches and players feel about him and he’s well respected for his actions.”
The Redlegs have named a settled lineup for Sunday’s game, adding Matt Harms, Mitch Nicholas and Max Hodges to an extended squad.
