All SANFL footy fans have the opportunity to get to Round 2 matches of the SANFL Statewide Super League at Adelaide Oval this weekend.
Tickets for the general public for match days on Saturday and Sunday are on sale now via Ticketek.
Every SANFL supporter who has purchased a SANFL club membership will also receive a link to download their complimentary ticket for their team’s match day this weekend.
Following South Australia’s move this week into Stage 3 easing of COVID-19 restrictions – effectively allowing up to 25,000 spectators at Adelaide Oval – tickets will be allocated for every second seat in the stadium, in accordance with the crowd density requirement of one person per 2 square metres.
SANFL Chief Executive Officer Jake Parkinson said the ticketing process had been made easier this week with no requirement for a ballot and fans able to purchase multiple tickets in the one transaction, allowing them to secure adjacent reserved seats for family or friends.
“We were thrilled to be in a position to bring footy back in 2020 with crowds of up to 5000 at Adelaide Oval last weekend, but accept there were some challenges because of the way we needed to allocate tickets to ensure we kept our community safe and well,” Mr Parkinson said.
“The ticketing process for Round 2 is easier and we therefore encourage every SANFL footy fan to download or purchase their reserved seat and get along to this unique SANFL footy experience before footy returns to suburban venues from Round 3.”
Mr Parkinson said it was also exciting to have the Adelaide Footy League and a number of country leagues kick off their seasons this weekend.
Community football can have spectators at their venues providing they are socially distanced and the density requirement of one person per 2 square metres is met.
He said it was a great outcome to have community footy back and a credit to the affiliated leagues, clubs, players, umpires and the many passionate volunteers who have made it happen.
“As a result of the hard work and dedication from our leagues and clubs, we are now positioned to return to competition in an environment with spectators, food and beverage which is of great social and economic benefit to local communities,” he said.
“I know many supporters will relish in being able to get out to a local footy match this weekend and we wish all those commencing their seasons the best of the luck.”
