Match Report

U18 Match Review Round 6 v West Adelaide

This week was a nice wake-up call for the boys – who have been travelling well with our current string of wins. We came into this game underprepared to work/execute. Coming out of the gates firing and kicking six goals to two by the first break, we took our foot off the gas and played some inconsistent football. The pleasing factor is that despite this (possibly being one of our worst games for the year) – we still led for the entirety of the match, always looked in relative control and ran out comfortable winners by 38 points.

The result showed that our talent alone can get us into good positions – but we know we can do better. Cooper Murley was pivotal at moving us forward from the centre (winning the League MVP this week), Mitch Trepka played a captains game full of one-percenters and team-first acts down back, while Taj Rahui in his second game (coming up from U16s) looked the most composed player on the ground. Marcus Roberts, Nathan Hearing, Jack Saunders and Jackson Murphy all performed well in their roles to shift the game at different times.

The boys have been incredibly diligent and thorough in their review and while happy with the win, are not satisfied with just that.

Chris O'Connor - U18s Head Coach

The boys have been incredibly diligent and thorough in their review and while happy with the win, are not satisfied with just that. I look forward to us showing the competition, and ourselves, how good we can really be when we work consistently and execute when we should. This week we make the trip to Noarlunga to face South Adelaide on Saturday at 11:30am.
