Scans have confirmed Norwood Captain Matthew Panos injured his anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday’s match with Centrals at Elizabeth.
The gun midfielder went down in the final quarter after twisting his knee and was immediately assisted from the field.
Football Operations Manager Mark Ross said scans on Monday afternoon confirmed the club’s concerns around the injury.
“This is very disappointing news for both Matthew and the club, but we will rally around Matthew and provide our full support to him,” Ross said.
“Matthew is the ultimate professional and will no doubt bounce back from this unfortunate set back.
“Panos will require surgery and the club will fully support him during what will be a traditional 12-month rehabilitation process.”
