Mat Creeper inks new two-year deal

THE Norwood Football Club is extremely pleased to announce the re-signing of Women’s Head Coach Mat Creeper for a further two years.

Creeper, who joined the club ahead of the 2021 Season led the club to its first minor Premiership since 2019, whilst winning the SANFLW Coach of the Year.

The 46-year-old also extended Norwood’s finals run to five years when he led the team to a Preliminary Final in his first season at The Parade.

CEO James Fantasia said he was delighted to see Creeper re-commit for a further two seasons which shows his investment in not only the playing group but the club as a whole.

“The Club is extremely happy that Mat has extended his tenure at the Redlegs” said Norwood Chief Executive Officer, James Fantasia.

“The work Mat has done over the last year has been outstanding, he brings plenty to the table and the focus on developing our players has helped push the competition forward.”

“We are confident that under his tutelage the women and girls involved within our Club will continue to progress and excel both on and off the field.”

With a career spanning over 20 years, Creeper has notched up over 300 games of experience at various clubs around Australia with the West Football Club (Northern Territory) and the Hermit Park Football Club (Queensland) his longest stints.

He has previously worked as an assistant coach under Premiership Coach Steve Symonds with Norwood in 2019 and has also worked as an assistant coach with the NT Thunder Junior Men’s & Women’s State Academy programs from 2017 through to 2019. Creeper was then appointed the forward line coach at Collingwood’s AFLW team in 2020 under Steve Symonds.

Creeper took over the top job from Chris Howie at the end of 2020 and has brought plenty to the table so far.

“It’s a really exciting time for myself and the club I believe,” said Creeper.

“We have a really exciting group which boasts loads of talent right across the board from our Senior players to our junior players.

“I’m really excited to be able to work with the group again and hopefully further develop them and create some success along the way.”
