Tom Condon turns from Tiger to Leg

THE Norwood Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former Glenelg half-forward Tom Condon ahead of the 2022 SANFL Season.

The 24-year-old arrives at The Parade after a successful year at Glenelg where he was a Reserves Premiership Player, whilst finishing third in the Reserves Magarey Medal.

Condon plays predominantly as a half-forward with also stints in the midfield. In 2021 he averaged 19.1 disposals for the Bays Reserves which saw him also boot 37 goals. He kicked a goal in every game including three four-goal hauls against West Adelaide, Norwood and South.

Condon only managed one senior appearance in 2021 and will be looking to cement his spot in Jade Rawlings’ starting 22 next season.

Norwood Football Services Manager Rob Harding said he was delighted to welcome Condon to The Parade in 2022.

“It’s fantastic to get Tom Condon across from Glenelg,” Harding stated.

“He finished third in the Reserves Magarey Medal this year, obviously a tough side to break into at The Bays but Tom was super consistent throughout the year and kicked 37 goals at Reserves level.

“We see great capability for Tom to play a role up forward and through the midfield.”

Tom Condon (31) celebrates a goal against North Adelaide.

Condon explained his decision to join the Redlegs was a combination of both opportunity and being part of an exciting young list coached by Jade Rawlings.

“It’s a very exciting time to sign for Norwood,” Condon said.

“The opportunities that present themself for next year with the young guys coming through is something I want to be a part of.

“The club is in a really good position for the next few years with a lot of talent coming in through the juniors coupled with some good recruits, it makes for very exciting times.”

After booting 37 goals at Reserve level in 2021, Condon was unsure of his set position and is ready to be played anywhere Coach Jade Rawlings feels is best to improve the team.

“I think long term I’d like to develop my craft more and play in the midfield,” Condon said.

“Starting on a wing and being able to go inside and then pushing forward to hit the scoreboard is something I want to become elite at.

“I’m happy though to play anywhere Jade wants me which benefits the team moving forward.”
