NORWOOD recorded a clean bill of health following Saturday’s impressive 36-point win against league leaders North Adelaide.
Unfortunately, the news isn’t so good for experienced defender Mitch Wilkins who suffered an ankle injury following Norwood’s Round 13 clash with the Eagles.
The 28-year-old will undergo surgery this week with no time frame put on his return.
“Wilko suffered an ankle injury early against the Eagles, and courageously was able to play out the game, kicking a great goal late in the third quarter,” Football Services Manager Rob Harding said.
“Unfortunately scans revealed damage that will require surgery this week. We will miss Mitch’s leadership in defence, but he will begin his rehab as soon as possible and look to return later in the year.”
After returning via the Reserves last weekend, wingman Isaac Saywell suffered a leg knock which saw him sit out the final term against the Roosters. He is listed as a test for this weekend.
Defender Sam Duke is also listed as a test as he looks to overcome a shoulder injury, while Brodie Carroll will spend at least another fortnight on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.
Captain Matthew Nunn and midfield bull Mitch Cotter are both rehabbing well following respective ankle and knee injuries.
The Redlegs travel to Noarlunga this weekend to face South Adelaide in Round 15 of the Hostplus SANFL League.
