A ready-made footballer, Ross Dillon was recruited by Norwood from the Melbourne Football Club in 1973 after a transfer in employment. Originally from Kyabram, he had begun his VFL career with Melbourne in 1966.
Playing as a centre half forward/full forward, he played 85 games for the Demons, winning their goal-kicking award in 1969 and 1970, and representing Victoria in those two seasons.
