2020 Under 16s and 18s Coaches Confirmed

The Norwood Football Club is excited to announce Craig Roberts and Chris O’Connor as its Head Coaches for the U16s and U18s Centre of Excellence programs for 2020 respectively.

Chris O’Connor has been elevated to the Head Coaching role of the U18s, after successful years coaching the clubs U15s, U16s and assisting at Reserves level.

Norwood Talent Manager Rick Shrowder said O’Connor’s new role came off the back of an impressive five years at the club.

“O’Connor brings a deeply analytical and highly professional approach to the role coupled with a strong desire to facilitate player development in a challenging, enjoyable environment,” Shrowder said.

“We look forward to supporting Chris’s development in this role and working with him to ensure a successful year for everyone in the program.”

Roberts will move into the position of Under 16 Coach following O’Connor’s appointment as Head-Coach of the Under 18s.

Roberts joins the Redlegs from the Port Football Club in Port Pirie, where he has been Head Coach of their A Grade team since 2017.

With experience coaching in the Spencer Gulf League and several years’ experience running his own programs in-country football clubs, Robert’s is now excited to bring that knowledge to the SANFL with the Redlegs.

Robert’s teaching experience in the education sector, together with his playing experiences at youth and senior level at the North Adelaide Football Club has helped shape Craig’s values and coaching philosophies said Shrowder.

“Robert’s vast and varied playing and coaching resume makes him a great fit for our underage program as we have no doubt that the team will be able to learn a lot from him.”

“We as a club are really looking forward to working with both Coaches throughout 2020.”

“The club would also like to thank James Allan for his two years as Head Coach of the U18s, we wish him all the best for his new ventures in 2020,”
