2023 Novita SANFL Wheelchair Football League gets underway this Friday night (May 26), with Norwood facing Central District at The Lights Community and Sports Centre (Court 5) in Lightsview.
The Redlegs game against the Bulldogs commences at 6:15pm, followed by the Sturt V Eagles game at 7:45pm at The Lights.
Each of Norwood’s nine games throughout the home and away season will be hosted at The Lights Community and Sports Centre, 244 East Parkway, Lightsview.
Norwood finished third after the minor round season last season, but Centrals defeated the Redlegs in the third place play-off 11.6-72 to 8.4-52.
In 2023 Norwood welcomes Ashlee Gould (returning after a season away in 2022), Rick Leonard, as well as Darren Schutz who has come across from the Eagles.
Wayne Hale and Steve Edge have both left Norwood over the offseason, and will play with Woodville-West Torrens in 2023, while Danielle Hale has also not returned for the season ahead.
David Gould will coach the team, while also playing, and Brodie Healy will act as assistant coach after crossing over to Norwood from Centrals.
Teams cannot field more than two able-bodied players on field (court) at once, and a maximum team value of 16 points is allowed on court at any one time. Able-bodied players are worth 5 points; Players with the greatest disabilities are worth 1 point.
