Norwood Football Club Football Operations Manager Richard Kelly provides an update on the Senior Men’s football program:

The Redlegs Senior Men returned to pre-season training on Monday, December 2 following the mandatory 10-week off-season break for SANFL clubs.

Norwood had about 65 players on the track on Monday including recruits Charlie Molan (Sturt), Will Rowlands (returned from Gold Coast AFL) and Tom McCallum (Port Adelaide AFL).

Moving up from the U18s is Jacob Newton, Jake Hill, Tom Hill, Anthony Mustaca, Luke Scott, Eamonn Cronin, Jack Michalanney, Daniel Thompson, Levi Johnston and James van Wyk who are also training with the senior squad.

Grant Catalano (Payneham), Jack Hodges (Payneham), Seb Wilkins (Pembroke), Kyle Schefe (Ironbank) and Gus Liebich (Waikerie) are also trialing with the club over the pre-season.

Another familiar face, Luke Surman, was also at training on Monday. At the conclusion of the 2024 season Surman announced his retirement, but has since re-committed to the club for the 2025 season.

On the injury/rehab list to commence pre-season is McCallum (shoulder), Dom White (shoulder), Finn Heard (elbow), Mitch O’Neill (ankle), Cory Stockdale (knee), Liam Robinson (ankle) and Oliver Sanders (ankle).

Most of those boys are on track to re-join the main group when the squad returns in the new year.

Ruckman Harry Boyd is currently in Victoria training with AFL club St Kilda, and we wish Harry all the best with his trial at the Saints as he eye’s a place on their AFL list through the SSP period.

Key defender Tom Graham has recently decided to move back to Victoria for family reasons, while Goy Lok has also informed the club that he will move back to Victoria. The club thanks and wishes Tom and Goy all the best.

The club has some further player announcements to come next week.
