The Fixture for the 2026 SANFL Women’s season has landed, with the Redlegs kicking off their campaign in familiar territory… with a trip down to Noarlunga to face the reigning premiers.
Norwood has played South Adelaide within the opening two rounds of the season on five occasions across eight seasons, including Round 1 last year.
The SANFLW season will commence later than previous years, with Round 1 to take place on April 18 (the week following Gather Round). The Redlegs then take on North Adelaide on Anzac Day in Round 2 at Revo Fitness Oval in Prospect.
Norwood’s first home game at Coopers Stadium will be in Round 3, hosting Glenelg at 5pm on Saturday, May 2.
Round 3 will be a big occasion for the club, with all four SANFLW matches to be played at The Parade in a new initiative from the SANFL. In an “Event Day” format, six clubs will host all four SANFLW matches across the weekend from Round 3 to Round 12.
Coopers Stadium will host the first Event Day, with the Bulldogs V Eagles from 10:30am, Roosters V Panthers at 12:40pm, Westies V Sturt at 2:50pm and the Redlegs V Tigers from 5pm all on May 2.
A similar format will take place at X Convenience Oval in Round 4, Unley in Round 6, Prospect in Round 8, Glenelg in Round 10 and West Adelaide in Round 12.
New Norwood coach Ben Hunt will have to wait until Round 6 to take on his former side, Central District on May 30.
The SANFLW Finals series will follow a 14-round home and away season, with the Semi Finals taking place on Saturday, August 15, the Prelim on August 22 and Grand Final on August 29 (finals dates, times and locations are TBC).
