Ashlee’s Gould as Gold in reaching 50 SANFLW games

By ZAC MILBANK

Consistency and durability are two qualities Norwood’s Ashlee Gould prides herself on.

As the reliable Redlegs’ defender prepares for her 50th Hostplus SANFLW League game against West Adelaide on Friday night, she revealed she hadn’t missed a match since Round 1 of 2019.

Making her debut halfway through the 2018 season, Gould spent her first campaign at The Parade juggling her first love of playing basketball.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 24-year-old felt compelled to make a decision to relinquish her position with the West Adelaide Bearcats in the NBL1 competition.

It coincided with her producing the trademark consistency of quelling her opponent that she continues to produce weekly in 2022, much to the delight of coach Mat Creeper.

Initially starting her football journey with Port Adelaide in the SAWFL competition, Gould is delighted with her decision as she becomes one of the first ten players to reach the 50-game SANFLW milestone.

Studying to become a qualified Personal Trainer, Gould is driven by the lure of playing in a premiership with the Redlegs, particularly after regularly playing finals football in her first four seasons.

With Norwood currently sitting outside the top four on percentage, Gould is well aware of her milestone match’s importance with just three minor round games to play before the major round.
