Why did the AFL commence its season when all other footy was postponed?

Football at the highest level was able to put in place highly regulated and controlled health and safety standards that couldn’t be replicated in football matches at community levels. However, following the latest Federal Government measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the AFL competition has also been suspended until 31st May. Across all levels of football, the health, safety and wellbeing of communities is paramount.
