Howie appointed SANFLW Coach

The Norwood Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Howie as senior coach of the SANFLW program.

Howie joins the Redlegs after a year in 2017 with Nairne Bremer as Senior Women’s coach (SAWFL) and Director of Women’s Football Development on the HFL Board.

With a career in coaching spanning over 13 years, Howie has extensive experience in development environments.

Norwood Football Operations Manager Mark Ross said the Club was confident Chris would excel in the role.

“Chris has extensive knowledge of football and has a strong understanding of our SANFLW program as well as what we stand for across the Club more broadly,” Ross said.

“While his football experience is obviously impressive, Chris also has a brilliant strategic mind and brings a strong focus on personal development and culture which is important.

“As a Club, we went through a thorough process to get the best person for this role and Chris brings a wealth of experience and qualities which we feel will strengthen our women’s program.

“We are confident that under his tutelage the women and girls involved with our Club will continue to progress and excel both on and off the field.”

Newly appointed Coach Chris Howie said he aims to bring an attacking style of football to the Parade, ensuring the team continues to build on the style and method set in the past three years.

“Over the past few weeks I have seen plenty of footage which really excites me,” said Howie.

“It’s about finding out now who the players are what their skill-sets are.

“My game plan is relatively attacking, making sure we focus on what we have done right over the past three years and adding on what we can.

“There’s a real opportunity here at Norwood to provide next-level coaching to people that want to succeed at an elite level.”

“We are looking forward to the challenges ahead, training hard and having a positive impact on season 2020.
