NORWOOD will be forced into making a minimum of at least one change for its Friday night game against Woodville West Torrens.
After a tough loss at the hands of North Adelaide last week, wingman Zac Richards will miss the clash after sustaining a dislocated kneecap in the second quarter against the Roosters. The loss of Richards will open the door for at least one new face for this Friday.
The selectors will no doubt be sweating on the fitness of midfielder Cole Gerloff who finished the North game with a reoccurrence of his ankle injury. The 21-year old has not yet been ruled out but will need to convince selectors during training that he is up to facing the league leaders.
The Redlegs last week welcomed back key forward/Ruckman Luke Surman who is a chance to add some extra height to Norwood’s front third, while Chris Lodovici has impressed in the Reserves and could be a chance to make his debut.
Jarrod Cotton could also call upon Cody Szust who can play a variety of roles. Szust started as a forward, however, has spent time in the back half and in the midfield in season 2020. The 23-year old has not been seen in the League team since Round 3 and would be eager to reclaim his spot.
Forwards Sam Barnett and Lachlan Pascoe could also come under consideration at the selection table while young defender Daniel Fairbrother could make his debut after a best on ground performance last week in the Reserves.
Another youngster who will certainly press his claims is defender Jack Heard. The tall, agile and well balanced Heard has been named in the extended squad for the past few weeks and would be very close to making his senior debut.
Norwood will on Thursday evening name its side to tackle the Eagles, with the first bounce at Coopers Stadium at 7:40pm on Friday.
