Injury Update – Several Legs set to return

Last Updated:

NORWOOD forward Paul Puopolo is one of several Redlegs pushing to return as he looks to overcome a hip injury that forced him out of Saturday’s clash with Centrals.

Puopolo was ruled out of the game against Centrals on Friday, after reporting soreness at training last week. The 31-year-old will be monitored throughout the next two weeks to determine his availability for Norwood’s Round 7 clash with the Crows on the 22nd of May.

The Redlegs will be without midfielder/forward Peter Bampton after he suffered a fractured rib in the Reserves loss to Centrals on the weekend. The 24-year-old came off injured in the first term and is likely to return within the next fortnight.

Nick Pedro will be listed as a test after he was ruled out of Saturday’s clash with a concussion. The defender will be assessed in the lead up to Norwood’s clash with Adelaide.

Midfielder Josh Richards did not feature for the Reserves on the weekend due to suffering an adductor strain. The injury is not severe with Richards likely to return for Round seven.

Defender Emmanuel Irra, who had hamstring awareness a fortnight ago is progressing well through his rehab and is on track to push for selection in round seven.

Unfortunately, ruckman Henry Crauford had a set back at training last week as he suffered a back injury. The injury is not related to the one which forced him out for the early part of the season, however, will be monitored over the next few weeks to determine his timeframe for a return.

Young ruckman Ned Carey is progressing well from his ankle injury and is expected to start training with the main group within the next 2-3 weeks.

James Warton is progressing well from an ankle injury suffered a fortnight ago and will aim for full training next week, while off-season recruit Jonty Patrick is listed as three-week proposition with abdominal soreness.

Midfielder Cooper Murley is making some strong progress as he recovers from an ankle injury, while Matthew Panos and Brad Ficken are still weeks away with MCL and ACL injuries.

Norwood has the bye this weekend, before facing Adelaide in Round seven of the SANFL Statewide Super League on the 22nd of May.
