Norwood has signed electrifying wingman/forward Emmanuel Irra for the 2020 SANFL Statewide Season.
The 25-year-old joins Norwood after playing both at South Adelaide and Port Adelaide over the past nine seasons.
Irra has played 85 League games booting 23 goals whilst playing at the Magpies and Panthers.
The Ugandan born Irra will look to add some flexibility to the Redlegs side who are excited by the prospect of injecting his explosiveness and pace into the playing group.
Norwood Football Operations Manager Mark Ross described Irra as an “exciting talent”.
“We are really pleased to welcome Emmanuel to the Norwood Football Club in 2020,” Ross said.
“Emmanuel possesses great skills and explosive speed to get away from his opponents.
“He has spent two years in an AFL environment at the Magpies, so we look forward to him bringing his experience to us next season.”
Speaking to Irra on the eve of his arrival, he said he couldn’t be happier joining Norwood in 2020 and highlights the playing group, coaching staff and fans as the major reasons he wanted to join the club next season.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity to continue my career at Norwood,” Irra said.
“Norwood’s list is very exciting. They have a great playing group, great coaches and loyal supporters who turn out every week to watch them play.”
“I’m absolutely pumped to have signed and couldn’t be happier joining such a great club with a lot of history.”
Irra went onto mention Norwood’s culture and close relationship with former Power play Dom Barry were also key factors in joining Norwood in 2020.
“I think Norwood’s culture is something I have definitely admired over the years,” Irra said.
“I have a very good mate of mine playing for Norwood, Dom Barry who I was fortunate enough to play some football with at my time at Port Adelaide.
“There’s a variety of reasons why I signed, but the culture, playing group and fans are the main reasons.”
Norwood welcomes Emmanuel to the club and looks forward to seeing him dashing across Coopers Stadium in 2020.
