The Norwood Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former Redlands defender Jai Larkins for Season 2021.
The 21-year-old joins the Redlegs after playing with Maroochydore in the QAFL last season.
Larkins is a running defender will look to take the game from half back with his run and use his kick to great effect. Larkins is also a thumping kick of the football, which will give Norwood plenty of territory when rebounding from defence.
Larkins played his junior football at Maroochydore before transferring to Sandgate in 2018 and 2019.
Larkins signed for Redlands in 2019 as a train on player and then in 2020 signed on as an official bomber. He played the first two trial games before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the NEAFL competition.
Jai has football IQ embedded in his genes after his father, Trevor played 12 senior games for Richmond, as well as 100 games for West Adelaide.
After his years playing football in the QAFL and NEAFL, Larkins decided to test himself in the SANFL in 2021.
“Speaking to people from Norwood, they were disappointed about the way last year ended,” Larkins said.
“I feel like I can bring my pace and explosiveness to the side as well as the experience I have had playing NEAFL for the past two seasons.
“The list now has a good blend of youth and experience and to be playing in a big league like the SANFL is something that really stood out to me.
“To be joining such a proud club like Norwood is something I look forward to and I can’t wait to get started next week.”
