Norwood recruit Jamie Smyth had an unbelievable night out on Friday, scoring 19 goals in a huge 150-point win over West Adelaide in the SANFL Wheelchair Football Competition.
The Redlegs claimed a 28.4-172 to 3.4-22 victory over the Bloods at The Lights Community and Sports Centre.
In just his third game for his new club Norwood, after crossing over from Central District for the 2025 season, Smyth nailed 19 goals without a blemish.
Smyth’s effort broke the all-time goal scoring record for the League, which amazingly was set the previous week by Eagles forward Trevor Jarrett, who nailed 17 majors against Westies in Round 2.
Smyth had nine goals to half time, when the Redlegs already had the game well under control, but he and his side kept the foot down scoring another 10 in the second half.
Norwood captain Grant Leonard also finished with nine goals.
The Redlegs are off to a good start in season 2025, defeating reigning premiers in Woodville-West Torrens in Round 1, and West Adelaide in Round 3. Norwood’s only blemish came against Centrals in Round 2, going down by 16 points.
Approaching the half-way point of the nine-round season, Norwood takes on the Eagles again this Friday in Round 4.
The Norwood V Eagles game will get underway at 7:55pm at The Lights Community and Sports Centre.
