NBA Star Josh Giddey is coming to Norwood FC

Australian NBA superstar Josh Giddey is coming to the Norwood Football Club for one night only… Saturday, June 17!

In an exclusive event hosted in partnership by the Norwood Football and Norwood Basketball Clubs, the 6ft 8in (2.03m) Oklahoma City Thunder star will be the first NBA player to visit The Parade and speak at the Wolf Blass Community Centre.

Selected by the Thunder with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Giddey formerly played for the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s NBL and has just announced his commitment to the Australian team for the 2023 Basketball World Cup, set to take place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia in August and September, 2023.

He is the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple double. Others on this list include, Luka Dončić, LeBron James, LaMelo Ball & Magic Johnson.

Giddey was also the first player since Oscar Robertson in 1961 to have three triple doubles in a row in their rookie season.

This will be the only official event Giddey will feature at whilst in Adelaide, and the first event to be jointly hosted by the Norwood Redlegs and Norwood Flames since commencing a partnership in 2023.

The NBA superstar will be interviewed by Allan Browne (the Adelaide 36ers gameday MC) about his meteoric rise in the NBA and what it is like competing in the best basketball competition on the planet and coming up against the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry.

All 140 lucky attendees will not only get the opportunity to have dinner with Josh and listen to his story, but they will also receive a “Giddey Bag” containing a limited edition Giddey Cap in Norwood Colours and branding, signed by Josh, a signed Giddey Player card and a limited edition Josh Giddey Poster and event commemorative Glass.

Auction items on the evening include Giddey’s Oklahoma City Jersey, an Australian Boomers Jersey and a once off “Giddey” customised Norwood FC Jumper, all signed and personalised by Josh Giddey.

There will also be the opportunity to have your photograph with Josh and bring along other personal items for signing.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet an NBA star well on his way to being in the top 10 players in the NBA.
