Lana’s loving it at the Legs

By ZAC MILBANK

Lana Schwerdt could be forgiven for wanting to shift to Central District.

Her father Stephen played 212 games for the Bulldogs from 1986 to 1998 while her brother Ethan is a current member of the senior squad at Elizabeth.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Lana wouldn’t have it any other way as she continues to relish her role with the Redlegs since making her debut in Round 2 of 2021.

Set to share her 50-game milestone on Saturday with teammates Adrienne Davies and Kiana Lee, the 19-year-old said the camaraderie at The Parade was a key factor in her enjoying her opening 49 SANFLW matches.

Incredibly durable, Schwerdt – who thrives on laying a crunching tackle – has also displayed her value in her versatility in being able to contribute across the field throughout her SANFLW career.

A member of South Australia’s team at the 2022 AFL U18 National Championships, Schwerdt is currently studying a Bachelor of Science at Adelaide University.

And she would love nothing more than to record a win against Glenelg in the Preliminary Final at Stratarama Stadium.
