Lord and Murley become AFL Bound

Two Norwood Juniors in Alastair Lord and Cooper Murley have been drafted to AFL Clubs following the conclusion of last nights 2021 National Draft.

Speedster Alastair Lord was the first of the Redlegs to be selected, as the Essendon Football Club snapped up the dashing half-back with pick 46.

The Athelstone product featured for Norwood’s Under 18s five times in 2021, where he averaged 22.4 disposals.

Lord was a member of the State Under 19 program and was kept busy throughout 2021 featuring for both Norwood and his College commitments at Rostrevor.

The next cab off the rank was dangerous midfielder, Cooper Murley.

Murley, who had an injury-interrupted 2021, was selected by the Collingwood Football Club with pick 49. The 18-year-old featured for the Reserves and Under 18s in 2021, where he averaged 12 disposals at 75% efficiency.

Originally from Tea Tree Gully, Murley was also part of the Under 19 State Team set-up. He was influential for Norwood’s Under 18s which saw him in Round 10 against South Adelaide gather 34 disposals, to go with five marks, seven clearances and two goals.
